Anna Maria Chávez (born ) is an American attorney, inspirational speaker, writer and community leader.[1] Most recently, Chávez served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Girl Scouts of the USA (–[2]) and was the first woman of color to head the organization.[3]
Biography
Anna Maria Chávez was born in in the small farm town of Eloy, Arizona and is of Mexican-American heritage.
She joined the Girl Scouts as a child.[3] Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona during her high school years. She attended Yale University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in American History. She attended James E.
Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, received the Juris Doctor degree, and was admitted to the bar of the Arizona Supreme Court, the bar of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and, ultimately, the bar of the U.S.
