Don was born in Alice Springs at the beginning of World War 2.
His family moved to Yuendumu when it was established and he attended school there. He found work with neighbouring cattle stations before marrying and moving to Papunya with his wife.
Don was taught to paint by fellow stockman Paddy Carroll and has painted steadily over that time.
His works are held in many public and private collections as well as has been displayed in many exhibitions over the years.
